If you are anything like me, not only are you trying to achieve your dreams, but you also have a lot of outside factors playing their role to distract you. I for instance…I’m a mother of three beautiful children. I am a wife, I am a fulltime employee, I am finishing up my life coach certification, & I am an owner of an online boutique…I am quiet the busy bee!!! But in order to do all these things successfully, it is necessary that we create balance in our lives. I have come up with 4 practical uses of how we can create the balance we need in order to not become burned out as we achieve our dreams…
The first way is to set priorities…
Now keep in mind when setting priorities that your overall goals and purpose should reflect whichever priorities you set highest. For example my top priority in life is to live a life worthy of my calling (which is my spirituality), so whatever I do, should fall in accordance to this priority. So going to church, reading my bible daily, are all things I will make a part of my everyday life. My family is my second priority. Although I will be working towards achieving my personal hopes and dreams, I will not allow anything to conflict with the time & attention for my family. So take time to reflect and think about the things that are MOST important to you, write them down and decide not to let anything that is not a priority divert your attention.
The second way to create balance is to decide what is important and leave the rest alone…
We need to let go of whatever is of non-importance to us. After you come up with your priorities list, we need to weed out everything else. For example it’s in some peoples priorities to keep their house clean in tip top shape…it’s not on my priority list… now I make sure I clean my house at least once a week, but I can remember a time when I allowed other peoples priorities to rule me. So I would clean my house every day to fit their expectations…It caused me to become overwhelmed, so I decided that this was unimportant to me, so I weeded this off of my list…Point: Do not let others people’s expectations of you change your priorities!!
The third way is to have a heart of gratitude…
We need to also be thankful for our current situation. We need to enjoy life as we are proceeding towards achieving our goals. If we become so focused on the dream, and forget to embrace the little things happening around us right now, we will never be happy. Enjoy your child’s laughter, or enjoy the beautiful day that God has blessed us with…I read a quote that said “Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not promised, and today is a gift from God, that’s why it’s called the present.”
Lastly we need to create balance by taking time to relax…
Take a bubble bath, watch your favorite movie, go shopping, go get a manicure or pedicure, do yoga, meditate, take a nap…take time for yourself to regroup. We need this time to give our brains a jolt of energy. We need this time to refocus and breathe…
So what are some things you need to remove from your life? What are your priorities? What are you thankful for right now?
