In beginning my research for my future career (claiming it!!!), I ran upon this definition of dream, which although simple, I found quiet profound as I began my journey in fulfilling my dream. A DREAM is a condition or achievement that is longed for. In order to achieve a certain condition in life, one must dream it for the achievement to come to fruition.
The other day I had what some would call an epiphany in this instance a DREAM of what my true calling was. But immediately fear came to mind. How am I supposed to do this? I have three kids, I can't take such a gamble...How are my bills going to get paid? I don't want my husband to carry the entire burden...I was flooded with anxiety and FEAR. So let's start there...What is Fear? Fear is an indicator to the brain that whatever it is that we are about to partake in or possibly achieve is beyond our comfort zone. So how do we move past the initial jitters and feelings of fear? Eleanor Roosevelt once said, "Do one thing every day that scares you" In order to accomplish my DREAM, I need to do something every day to exercise my mind and boundaries, allowing myself to no longer live in fear, but with comfort, making what I aspire to believable to myself more and more each day.
We all dream, we all have something or some things that we would like to occur, or would like to achieve. Whether we have a dream car, dream house, dream job, dream mate, that's the one thing that all humans share, the longing for, the wanting of a dream. So I implore you to join me on my journey to decide no longer to DREAM, but to achieve. I will be documenting my progress as I move toward my goals and my DREAM.
I recently asked myself the question, If I were not afraid I would______________________. I sat down, thought about it, dreamed about it, and now I am at the place of taking the next step of making my dreams come true. I have finished my masters in human services, marriage and family counseling, and will be a certified life coach in June 2013. My dream is to be in the position that I am my own boss, I can have my own successful life coach practice and in addition I would like to do motivational speaking engagements in the areas of spiritual, couples, parenting and empowerment. I want to get up each day and be excited about what I do.
As a child someone once asked me. "What do you want to be when you grow up?" I looked them square in the eye and said, “I don't care, as long as I’m in charge."
So what are your DREAMS? What are your aspirations? What are you doing to step outside of your comfort zone to make sure your DREAMS come to fruition?
